2024 President's Scholarship for Volunteer Service

The JLOCNY is pleased to announce that we will once again be awarding our annual President's scholarship for volunteer service! We will award one scholarship, in the amount of $1,000 to a nominee who meets the following criteria.

-A female high school student graduating this year

-A current resident of Orange County 

-Entering an accredited college/post secondary training in the fall of 2024, full or part time basis 

-Involved in women's/children's issues as a  volunteer 

We encourage all students who eligible to apply! Please note, an official copy of the student's transcript must be attached. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications must be postmarked no later than April 30th.

Diaper Drive

JLOCNY kicked off their community impact project at the annual meeting. A diaper drive benefiting Baby Steps Diaper Pantry. 1/3 US famlies are affected by diaper poverty, and forced with the tough descision to feed, or keep their babies clean and healthy with diapers. Governmant assistance programs do not provide any diaper aid. With your help, we would like to provide diapers to any family in need in Orange County. The League Life

President Elect Ginny Townsend was recently published in the latest issue of The League Life, a magazine that highlights member and League accomplishments, connects members, and provides informational articles. 

Ginny touched in on our league's roots with Mary Harriman, an Orange County native and the founder of the Junior League (1901).

2023 Holiday Party

Current members and Sustainers got together to celebrate the Holidays and discuss the League's success in 2023. 

Members enjoyed the night chatting over dinner and drinks at Oak & Reed in Middletown. 

2023 ODI

Treasurer Mary Checo-Williams attended the Junior League's ODI conference in Washington DC November 3rd-5th. The conference connected members worldwide, to share their successes and and best practices, while participating in interactive training sessions and workshops focused on organizational development and personal growth. 

“Great weekend in Washington DC attending the ODI conference. It was amazing to meet so many other Junior League women from all over the country and learn from all their tips/tricks to make our “little league that could” stronger. Grateful for the opportunity to attend and looking forward to sharing what I have learned.”-Mary

2023 Adopt a Family

This year, the JLOCNY was happy to “adopt a family” through Fearless Hudson Valley, Inc.! We provided Christmas gifts for a family with 6 children, as well as a gift and gift cards for their mom!

Wreaths Across America

Members of the JLOCNY and their families had the privilege to participate in Wreaths Across America. Our wonderful community laid 4,000 wreaths to honor our Veterans. “Remember the fallen, honor those who serve, and teach the next generation the value of freedom” Let us never forget their service and sacrifice 🇺🇸 

2023 Rising Stars!

After careful consideration, The Junior League of Orange County has chosen seventeen Individuals who either live, work or volunteer in Orange County, as our 2023 Rising Stars! Please join us to honor these individuals on November 15th at the The Barn at Villa Venezia. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available through our store.
